Origin offers three different examination sessions annually.  The RAD is an internationally recognised examining body,  the second is our very own NZAMD which has been carefully developed by a range of dance experts from home and abroad and the third is the New Zealand Speech Association which is again based here in NZ.

Ballet/Jazz/Tap/Contemporary/Hip Hop/Speech & Drama & Musical Theatre Examinations allow our pupils to develop all aspects of their chosen genre - musicality, artistry, technique, performance, control, discipline, and of course allows them to set and achieve goals and rewards them for their perseverance.  Although exams are not compulsory at the early levels we encourage our pupils to enter for examinations to give them an end goal to work towards.  All of our classes are based around our exam syllabi with the end goal of every pupil being accepted for examination entry.

In preparation for examinations students are given an intensive coaching week during the school holiday period and a mock examination prior to exam time every year.

Our coaching week and mock examinations are compulsory for any student who has entered for examinations. They enable us to polish and fine tune the examination work and help our pupils reach their full potential.

Exam’s are not compulsory at Origin but are highly recommended. If you choose to enter your child into an exam you will receive an invoice that will cover four different costs.

 

1. Exam Entry Fee

This money is sent to the Examination Body and covers the cost of administration and all of the cost involved for that examining body to arrange an examination tour.

2. Coaching Week Fee 

This fee varies depending on what exam your child is sitting.  The cost can range from $60 - $100.

3. Mock Exam Day Fee

 This fee is to cover the time and organisation of holding a mock exam for every exam pupil.

​

4. Exam Day Fee

This fee is to cover the staff time and organisation of exam days, hospitality for the examiner and any other costs involved in holding an exam session in our studio.
